Fixed oils analysis
Fixed oils and fats are widely distributed in many plant families, and are considered as source of energy required for daily activities. Fixed oils that are rich in omega 3 and 6 fatty acids such as alpha linoleinic and linoleic acid, respectively are considered as healthy foods for the treatment of many diseases such as cardiovascular disorders, hypercholesterolemia, and as anti-inflammatory agents.
Method
The following parameters are measured for the provided fixed oil samples:
- Acid value
- Ester value
- Iodine value
- Peroxide value
- Saponification value
- Unsaponifiable matter
- Gas Chromatography (GC) determination of fatty acid composition (saponification of the oil and methylation of its fatty acid fraction followed by determination of its methylated fatty acid composition using GC/FID or GC/MS).
- Customized reports including only some of these parameters is also possible
