Job brief:
The Food Chemistry Lab Head will lead our newly established lab and oversee the development and implementation of food chemistry research projects, as well as managing a team of scientists and technicians.
Job Tasks:
- Develop and implement research projects related to food chemistry, including but not limited to food quality, safety, and nutrition.
- Conduct and oversee laboratory experiments, analyze data, and prepare reports for publication.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and regulations.
- Collaborate with other sections of the lab to develop interdisciplinary research projects.
- Lead and manage a team of scientists and technicians in the food chemistry section.
- Collaborate with sales team in technical responses to support clients.
- Manage the section’s budget and resources effectively.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff members.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in food chemistry research and incorporate new techniques and technologies into the lab’s work.
- Plan for the annual ISO accreditation and potential scope expansions.
Job Requirement:
➢ Must-to-Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in science, agriculture, or a relevant field.
- The ideal candidate will have 10 or more years of experience in the food, beverages, and feed industries.
- Capable of using different chromatographic techniques in analysis such as LCMS/MS, GCMS, and ICP.
- Experience in residuals analysis (pesticides, hormones, antibiotics), analysis of heavy metals, mycotoxins, food allergens, and good knowledge of nutritional facts analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and leading teams of scientists and technicians is required.
- Strong technical skills and experience in laboratory experimentation and data analysis are necessary.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, with the ability to collaborate effectively with other sections of the lab and external stakeholders.
- The candidate should be able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic research environment, with strong organizational and time management skills.
➢ Nice-to-have:
- A master’s or PhD holder in food chemistry or a related field.
- R&D experience within an industrial setting.
- Strong project management skills, including budgeting and resource allocation, as well as knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and regulations.
