Omar Sakr, PhDChief Executive Officer (CEO)
Omar Sakr is the founder and CEO of Nawah-Scientific. Omar graduated as a pharmacist in 2005 from Ain Shams University, Egypt, after which he was appointed as a teaching assistant in the department of Pharmaceutical Technology, at the German University of Cairo (GUC) where he got his MSc degree in 2009. Omar then started his PhD journey at the University of Geneva, Switzerland and got his doctoral degree in 2015. As a part of his studies Omar worked for 3 years as a researcher at Capsulution Pharma in Berlin (Germany). Omar’s research activities are focused on nanotech applications for controlled delivery of small molecules and biological drugs. To his name, Omar holds several scientific and business awards for innovative product design. He authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed articles and book chapters that are published in top journals in the field.
Omar enjoys a strong entrepreneurial spirit and no matter what it takes, he believes that every problem is born with a solution. Taking this seriously, Omar is pursuing an MBA degree in HULT business School in London. Omar’s own famous quote is: “Some stuff can only be done the hard way!”.
MOSTAFA FEKRY, PHDCHIEF SCIENTIFIC OFFICER (CSO)
ostafa Ibrahem Fekry graduated in 2003 from faculty of pharmacy, Cairo University with honors then earned a PhD degree in 2011 at the University of Missouri-Columbia, USA. His research focused on elucidating the mechanisms of DNA damage by antitumor natural products (leinamycin and kinamycin D). In addition, he has examined DNA damage chemistry relevant to alpha-haloacrolyl containing mutagens, anticancer agents, and natural products. Mostafa has been appointed as a postdoctoral research associate in the Laboratory of Food and Nutrition Toxicology, ETH Zurich from 2012 till 2014.
His research focused on the impact of gut microbiota on dietary carcinogens (heterocyclic amine) and its relevance to colon cancer. Currently, Mostafa is working as an assistant professor in the department of natural product chemistry at faculty of pharmacy, Cairo University and his research is focusing on detecting volatile content of plant extracts using GC-MS and estimating total phenoloc content using plate reader. He plays a lot of sports especially push up and swimming. His famous quote is: “Mirror is not the only thing that reflects”.
Dalia Elgamil, MScResearcher
Dalia El Gamil was born in Cairo in 1988. She received her B.Sc. degree in Pharmacy and biotechnology from the German university in Cairo in 2010 and ranked the first on her class. Since then, she worked as a teaching assistant in pharmaceutical chemistry department. She obtained her M.Sc. degree in Pharmaceutical chemistry in January 2012. The scope of her work was structure-based design and synthesis of novel scaffolds as anti-cancer agents. Dalia is now a PhD student at the university of Geneva working in the frame of a joint project between the university and Nawah. Her research activities is focused on delivering combination therapies to cancer cells.
Hossam MossadAssistant Researcher
Hossam Mossad Mahmoud graduated from faculty of pharmacy, Ain Shams University in 2011. Hossam holds a diploma degree in clinical pharmacy from Ain Shams University and he is currently a Master student within a project focused on the chemistry of natural products. Also working as a part time community pharmacist, Hossam deals with patients and health care professionals, and he could feel clearly the patient agony with the old dated medical routines, and that left no doubt that the only way for the prosperity of medical system in Egypt is the medical research. Once heard about Nawah and its noble mission, Hossam didn’t think twice about joining, believing that working together with a brilliant team to achieve this common goal, we will help improve the current status of medical research in Egypt. Hossam believes that it always seems impossible until it is done.
Ahmed GoudaAssistant Researcher
Ahmed Gouda is working as an assistant researcher at Nawah-Scientific. Veritably he has been a researcher most of his life. In his early studies, he chose the science major in high school which allowed him to widen his scope of research. To boost his research skills, he obtained his bachelor degree in pharmaceutical sciences and drug design from faculty of pharmacy, Ain Shams University in 2012. Additionally, he chose to work on a project entitled “Towards Better Vaccine Delivery through Pulmonary route” as a graduation project and as start for gaining his master degree in pharmaceutics. Afterwards, he started his research journey as a teaching assistant in the British University in Egypt (BUE), then as QA inspector at GlaxoSmithKline factory in Egypt and finally as an assistant researcher in Nawah-Scientific. Choosing Nawah over other options was an easy choice to make because there, Ahmed could feel that his scientific skills are really challenged.
Nouran Abdel-HafeezAssistant Researcher
Nouran earned her bachelor degree in Pharmacy and biotechnology with an excellent grade with honors from the German university in Cairo (GUC). She was trained in Quality control departments in GSK (Glaxo Smith Kline) and EGPI ( Egyptian group for pharmaceutical Industries). Nouran also worked as a medical translator and reviser at PharmaMed company for medical translation services. She is currently studying clinical pharmacy to enter the board exam. Nouran recently joined Nawah to be a part of its scientific research team. “I’m happy to be here to satisfy my passion for science and start my postgraduate studies".
Ahmed ElmosammaSenior Accountant
Ahmed El-Mosamma was born in Cairo in 1986. He graduated from faculty of commerce, Helwan university in 2008. He began his career as a young accountant in the field of tourism. In 2009, he joined a company working in trading, and after three years he worked as an accounting supervisor in the field of importing and exporting. After five years of experience as a general accountant, he got a chance to be a senior accountamt in NAWAH and he wishes to be such a good addition to its team.
