RiseUp brought about 5,000 entrepreneurs, investors and startup enthusiasts from the region and beyond in Cairo for its three-day summit. The summit also hosted more than 150 startups participating in different activities at the summit. One such activity was the RiseUp Pitch Competition. Tens of startups from Egypt and rest of the region participated in it with only ten making it to the finals. The ten finalists were given the opportunity to pitch again at the main (capital) stage in front of audience at the closing ceremony on day three of event. Every startup had three minutes to pitch their products and services and another three minutes to answer the questions of judges. Nawah Scientific made it all the way to the grand prize and landed an investment by 500 Startups (amount to be disclosed soon). 500 startups is one of the giant early-stage investor firms from silicon valley and they are famous for the tremendous support and network they bring with their investment.

Nawah was chosen as a winner from 18 start-ups and entrepreneurs, selected to pitch their projects and ideas; the prize will allow our CEO, Dr. Omar Sakr to attend a training program at Stanford Business School in California. The competition came as part of Young Entrepreneurs Day, which offered a chance for African start-ups to gain exposure and raise their profile by pitching their business ideas to an international delegation of executives representing capital prospects, business mentors, and advisors.
